Masters should be laid out in the following manner:
- 30 seconds of black at head
- 30 seconds of color bars
- 30 seconds of black before program
- Program
- 30 seconds of black at tail
PSI recommends sending a duplication master rather than the original to protect against tape wear and unforeseen events.

- VHS
- 1 inch
